Who is Diane Kruger?

Diane Kruger, born Diane Heidkrüger on July 15, 1976, in Algermissen, Lower Saxony, West Germany, is a German-born actress and former fashion model. Raised in a devoutly Roman Catholic household as the eldest child of a bank employee mother and a computer specialist father, she initially pursued ballet—training at the Royal Ballet School in London—but a knee injury prompted her to shift paths into modeling and, eventually, acting . Fluent in German, English, and French, Kruger began her career on the runway in Paris and made a successful transition to acting with her debut in The Piano Player (2002). She rose to international prominence with roles such as Helen in Troy (2004), Dr. Abigail Chase in National Treasure (2004) and its sequel (2007), and Bridget von Hammersmark in Inglourious Basterds (2009).

Beyond Hollywood blockbusters, Kruger starred in critically acclaimed films like In the Fade (2017), for which she won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. On television, she received attention for her lead role in FX’s crime drama The Bridge (2013–14) . More recently, she is featured in Paramount+’s psychological thriller series Little Disasters, released in May 2025.
