Who is Manju Warrier?

Manju Warrier (born 10 September 1978, though some sources cite 1979) is widely regarded as the reigning “Lady Superstar” of Malayalam cinema. Born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, to T.V. Madhavan (accountant) and Girija Madhavan (Kathakali artist), and sister to actor-producer Madhu Warrier, she launched her acting journey as a teenager in Sakshyam (1995) and gained fame with Sallapam (1996).Her early career boasted iconic performances in hits like Aaraam Thampuran (1997) and Kaliyattam (1997), earning a National Film Award special mention.

After marrying actor Dileep in 1998 (divorced 2015), she took a hiatus to focus on family, returning triumphantly in 2014 with How Old Are You?, which was a turning point for her career.She continued to deliver critically acclaimed performances in Lucifer (2019), Aami (2018), Odiyan (2018), and Lucifer (2019), and recent works include Empuraan (2025) and the character Priyadarshini in Empuraan.

Beyond acting, Manju is an accomplished classical dancer, having performed Kuchipudi and multiple live stage shows; a recent performance for World Dance Day went viral as she gracefully recovered from a missed step.She is also active in production, launching Manju Warrier Productions and backing films like Lalitham Sundaram (2022).
